About me

Anthony Navarro

Software Developer, PHP & Laravel

I'm a PHP and Laravel developer with 9 years of professional experience. Most recently at ScreenPal, where I worked across the marketing site, subscription flows, and third-party integrations. Before that, client work at agencies and a SaaS shop, and a brief stint in C# at a smaller company.

PHP is my primary tool, but I'm comfortable with JavaScript, SQL, and the surrounding infrastructure layer: Docker, Linux, Nginx, DigitalOcean. I pick up what the project needs.

Outside of work I build tools for my own use. It's the best way I know to stay sharp and ship things with no constraints.

Background

Experience

  1. Full-stack Software Developer — ScreenPal

Worked across the marketing site, subscription flows, and third-party integrations. Cut page load times from ~20s to ~3s using Redis caching, modernized the subscription UI with Laravel and Livewire (which lifted conversion rates by ~25%), and integrated content APIs from providers like Shutterstock. Also maintained and extended an internal admin tool used by the support team.

  2. Full-stack Software Developer — I-Tul Software and Design

Built and maintained client sites using Laravel and WordPress. Refactored legacy codebases and integrated third-party APIs including Authorize.net, HelloSign, Twilio, and Salesforce.

  3. Software Developer — Direct Technology

Extended API functionality in C# for a SaaS product used by companies nationwide. Adjusted SQL queries to meet changing data requirements.

  4. Backend Software Developer — Three29

Built WordPress plugins and made theme changes using PHP, JavaScript, and CSS. Used Laravel for projects where WordPress was not a good fit.

Personal Projects

  • Bridge

A household operations dashboard I built for daily use. Manages chores, fitness tracking, plant care, and job applications. Self-hosted on a home server via Docker.

  • Dinner With Lucy

Named for my dog Lucy, who passed last December. What started as a cookbook for her over a decade ago has grown into a collection of online recipes that I use regularly. I keep it actively maintained and completed a full rewrite in early 2026.

Outside the code

Life offline

When I'm not at a keyboard I'm usually out on a trail with my dogs, Ellie and Nerys.
